Improv isn’t just for entertainers who love the spotlight – it’s a valuable tool that can teach a variety of lessons applicable to many different situations. Improv teaches mindfulness, public speaking, confidence, creativity, compassion, communication, humility, and flexibility.

If you’re a comedian, a performer, or a newcomer to the improv scene, come to our Improv Sampler and try your hand at improv comedy. This sampler is a safe space to explore improv, play games, and do some scene work with some gentle guidance. Come dressed to move (no open-toed shoes, skirts, or dresses, please).
About the Instructor:
Jessilee Windhaus is a Sacramento native who has been improvising in the area from a very early age. She proudly holds a Bachelor’s in Theatre and Dance from Sacramento State University, is the Co-Founder of Empire Arts Collective, the Founder and Producing Artistic Director of That Plus Chips sketch and improv comedy ensemble, and the Co-Host and Entertainment Coordinator of the Brown Chicken Brown Cow Podcast and Vodcast – currently ranked as the #4 podcast on iTunes. Jessilee has done improv all over the country, and has been a mainstage performer at Sacramento Comedy Spot and CSz Sacramento, where she served as the director of their High School League program. She's a proud alumni of the world renowned Missoula Children's theatre and has been enjoying teaching theatre and improv for nine years. With 16 years of improv and theatre experience under her belt, her improv credits include groups such as Dangerous Men/Dangerous Women, Garbeau's Dinner Theatre, Unexpected Birdbath, City Life, Tone E Stanza, Leftovers, Juvenile Delinquents, Tune-in-Prov, You! The Musical, and more.
